Every question in the world boils down to one question..."Did God create man, or did man create God?" in other words, "Is man created in the image of God, or is God created in the imagination of man?"
Dad did a couple of sermons on that issue. He was one the 2nd Commandment and talked all about how we make God in our own image, and we do it in so many ways it's amazing!
most non believers think man could not deal with the reality of his exsistence so he therefore created religion to cope. also some think other worldy beings started life on our planet and started religion from there with the same outcome as above. then there are those who believe in the evolution of life and the universe. orginized religion is wrong, the fall of the towers show that.
I believe we are made in God's image as stated in Genesis 26-27 "Then "God said, Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them".
t-bones, Non-believers might create false religions in order to cope but they would not create the true religion of the Bible. They do not want a Holy God who judges sin in His Holy Wrath. They suppress the truth of God in unrighteousness (Rom 1) because they can't cope with the reality of the true God. The towers fell, not because of organized religion, but because God is sovereign and He willed it.
I remember helping my little Grandpa fix cars occasionally. There was nothing he couldn't fix. I don't ever recall him saying to me as a little boy, "Can you go ahead and replace that transmission for me?" So what did he do? He gave me a wrench to hold, a bolt to screw in. He knew my limitations. He loved the car too much to leave that all up to me. But more than that, he loved me too much to make it all about me. He loved me too much to give me too much. God is no different. God frees us from such a burden. Max Lucado puts it this way, "You can no more die for your own sins than you can solve world hunger. And according to him, that’s okay. The world doesn’t’ rely on you. God loves you too much to say it’s all about you."
